Surprise general fund in good shape, officials say

Finance director gives fiscal year first-half report to council

Surprise’s general fund budget for the first half of the 2025 fiscal year appears in good shape.

Finance Director Andrea Davis briefed the city council on the latest numbers at its March 18 meeting, showing that local sales taxes were up 7% from what was expected — $3.5 million over to be exact.

Franchise fees were 16% over budget at $2.9 million. Those are fees related to sales from franchise utility companies within the city, such as APS, Cox and EPCOR.
