The Surprise City Council will potentially take an official stance against the controversial BNSF intermodal hub tomorrow night.
City staff is recommending to the council that it should oppose the $3.2 billion, 4,300-acre BNSF railway hub northwest of the city, due to the "substantial unmitigated risk and the undue burden it would place on the city of Surprise infrastructure and public safety services."
The council plans to vote on how it feels about the controversial project at its regular meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.
