Showcasing “Faith the Ugly Dog,” author Kelly Davis Beckley, of Surprise, will be in the Phoenix Public Library’s Local Author Fair 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.

The author and publisher will share "Faith the Ugly Dog (The Adventures of Buzzardillopossum)", an independent children’s book. She focuses on uplifting stories for young children that emphasize community, compassion and kindness.

“During this public event, I will be featured alongside a select group of Arizona writers, meeting readers and signing copies of my children’s picture book,” said Beckley, who will join over 100 Arizona writers.

She will debut her children’s book, which is for ages 3-8. The personal story is inspired by a real-life rescue dog named Faith who Beckley saved.

The dog became a source of comfort and strength, helping the author navigate through her journey with breast cancer, and how the bond with Faith showed how “a single, random act of kindness can completely change a life,” a media release stated.

While the book’s digital edition will launch globally Jan. 1, 2027, it is available for library licensing via OverDrive, and Beckley will have hardback copies available for purchase at the fair.

Attendees who visit her table can buy a signed copy and receive promotional items. Admission is free to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend, support local voices, and discover independent literary talent from across the state.
