Surprise already planning for fire station future

Council agrees to buy land for 10th station

Surprise is already paving the way for a fire station in the far northwest part of the city, even while one is still being built in west Surprise.

The city council on Dec. 4 unanimously approved purchasing 27 acres of land at Deer Valley Road and 185th Avenue for $5 million to make way for Fire Station 310 in three years. Five of those acres will be set aside for the fire station.

To pay for the land, $2 million of it was dedicated in the capital budget. Another $3.5 million is available from the last general obligation bond  voters passed for future public safety facilities.
