Public safety car seat event offers free inspections in Surprise

Posted

Surprise’s public safety departments are partnering with the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Child Crisis Arizona and State Farm to provide vehicle safety seat installations and inspections for local families.

It takes place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Surprise Resource Center, 12425 W. Bell Road.

This is an opportunity to have trained safety technicians check a child’s current car seat for proper installation and fit or have a new car seat installed.

Caregivers can also receive instructions about proper harnessing for children at each stage of development. Families participating in the car seat checks will be entered to win a raffle for a prize basket filled with childcare items.

During the event, families can also discover local programs working to serve and support young children and families.

No appointment is necessary.

What to bring:

  • Your child; if you can’t get them safely to the inspection site, bring their weight and height measurements.
  • Your vehicle owner’s manual, if you have it.
  • Your child seat owner’s manual, if you have it.
  • A positive attitude and desire to ensure your little ones are as safe as possible
