Peoria Police launch zero-tolerance traffic safety initiative

The Peoria Police Department has launched a zero-tolerance traffic-safety initiative with the goal of changing unsafe driving behavior on city roads.

Police Chief Thomas Intrieri said the initiative is a data-driven process to pinpoint areas in Peoria that historically are considered areas of concern, and then focus on those locations and change driver behavior.

The initiative aims to reduce speeding, impaired driving and distracted driving. Police are reminding drivers that safety on the roads is a shared responsibility.
