Sun City West residents invited to learn how to spot scams, stay safe

A Safety and Fraud Townhall event is taking place at Sundial Auditorium Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.

Residents will hear from Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan, County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, and County Supervisor Debbie Lesko about how to protect themselves from scams and fraud.

Seniors are often scam targets. According to a study done by the FBI in 2023, the Internet Crime Complaint Center reported more than $3.4 billion in losses by those over the age of 60. This was an 11% increase from the reported losses in 2022.
