New pinsetters begin calculating bowling games as 14 lanes open

Fall leagues set to begin next month

Johnson Lanes at the Sports Pavilion is a busy place year-round, but a new pinsetter project closed the lanes starting in April and lasting through July 22, when partial lanes opened for open bowling.

Now, 16 lanes are complete and 14 are open for play. Recreation Centers of Sun City West Sports Pavilion manager Gary Zarick said due to safety reasons it was important to attempt to block off any potential dust that could accumulate on the open lanes.

The remaining pinsetters arrived July 28 and crews continued working to get everything in place. Meanwhile, other things were completed such as foul lights, ball tracks, gutters, capping and theme boards above the lanes.
