County officials outlines fraud prevention tips at Sun City town hall

The Sun City Home Owners Association, in partnership with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, hosted the Safety and Fraud Town Hall event at the Sundial Auditorium. The meeting covered a few different topics, but mostly focused on how individuals can spot and protect themselves from scams.

There were many guest speakers at the event, including Maricopa County Supervisor Debbie Lesko, Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan and Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. All three emphasized how important it is to stay vigilant against scammers.

“Scammers prey on everybody,” Mitchell said. “But they do go after people who are older. And some of that is because of the lack of familiarity that we all have once you get to a certain age with technology. It makes it easier to prey on them.”
