Community efforts to get a significant designation to keep seniors safe are underway

Discussions continued during PORA committee meeting

The topic of Flock cameras continues to run through communities with individuals concerned with privacy and safety.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Dept. Bill Cornwell said there are no cameras in Sun City West, however,  MCSO does access those in Youngtown and in Sun City on Bell Road.

Property Owners and Residents Association Board Director Cindy Putman said she is working on getting a Vulnerable Road User (VRU) designation in Sun City West. To get this, an assessment has to be completed, including a quantitative analysis of vulnerable road user fatalities and serious injuries to identify areas of high risk to vulnerable road users and a program of projects or strategies to reduce safety risks in those high risk areas, according to the Federal Highway Administration website.
