EPCOR ‘non-beneficial’ use is between 3% and 6%

Official says all water is pumped out of the ground

EPCOR Utilities, Inc., officials spoke during a recent Property Owners and Residents Association Water Committee meeting, updating the community on water usage, delivery and recharge.

Water Analyst Tom Harrell said during the Sept. 15 meeting “95% of treated wastewater” is being used. He said in 2025, 5% was recorded as “non-beneficial use.”

EPCOR meters all wastewater exiting its treatment plants, as well as any wastewater delivered to other utilities for treatment.  Those numbers are compared to actual deliveries and recharge amounts.  The difference, also known as non-beneficial use, is “usually between 3 and 6 %,” he said.
