Recreation Centers of Sun City West officials were working to make the Beardsley Swim and Fitness facility better.
A temporary certificate of occupany was handed over to rec centers officials at the end of August and they set Tuesday, Sept. 6 as the official date to reopen the center, 12755 W. Beardsley Road. The regular hours are 6-9 a.m. seven days per week.
As Bill Schwind, RCSCW general manager, said the option to open the facility early without the window completion was not available last month. But now Maricopa Couty granted a temporary certificate of occupancy, as the arched windows have yet to arrive. Accorind to the Aug. 31 press release, the spa will remain closed until further notice. Beardsley was due for upgrades, according to the press release, which included lighting upgrades.
This latest project included removing the old fountains and water features in the back area and replacing them with a concrete deck and stylish rubber flooring, painting the pool and spa area with a new graphic design and color scheme, creating a weather-proof lobby by enclosing the old open-air entrance with custom-sized arched glass windows and air-conditioning and creating a new monitor station within the new lobby and painting and adding a graphic element to the long fitness hallway.
Sun City West resident Jennifer Lustbader posted to the Recreation Centers of Sun City West Facebook page, thanking the association staff for all that is done in the community.
