Copper State Credit Union held its annual membership meeting with a twist this year, hosting the gathering among the animals at the Phoenix Zoo.
The free meeting, held May 3, drew about 700 member families and included a look at how the credit union was faring from CEO Robb Scott as well as about $3,500 in raffle prices and breakfast. It marked the second year the credit union held its annual meeting at the zoo.
“At Copper State Credit Union, we believe supporting our members goes far beyond banking,” Scott said in a release. “It’s about building a lasting community. Seeing hundreds of our member families come together at the Phoenix Zoo on Saturday to connect, celebrate, and simply enjoy a day out reminds us exactly why we do what we do. This event reflects our core mission: giving back to our members and strengthening the communities we serve.”
Copper State has branches in Glendale, Phoenix, Goodyear, Surprise, Anthem and Payson. Its headquarters is in Phoenix.
Members were treated to a free day at the zoo, courtesy of the credit union. Joanne Robers said she took advantage of the event to visit a place she used to work and volunteer and to see the changes following the merger of Copper State and Southwest Healthcare Credit Union.
“I used to work and volunteer at the Phoenix Zoo but hadn’t been since 2002,” Roberts said. “I must admit, my guest was my sister because my husband was unable to attend. And for her, the swag bag and its contents along with the wonderful animal masks on the tables were a big hit. We are kids at heart! However, being the recipient of one of the raffle items was also a welcome surprise for her. All the gifts were exceptional, and she will use her $300 Visa card on her vacation in a couple of weeks.”
