A number of new road projects are on the books that will improve safety and give faster drive times for West Valley motorists.
The first project near El Mirage calls for rebuilding the southeast-bound U.S. 60 or Grand Avenue frontage road between Greenway Road and Thompson Ranch/Thunderbird roads, which is expected to begin in late summer and take 12 months to complete, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
“A contract for construction of the estimated $5.7 million project is expected to be awarded as soon as this month,” said ADOT spokesman Doug Nintzel. “The project has been designed to improve both traffic flow and safety along the frontage road.”
