Traffic collision on Castle Hot Springs Road north of SR74 results in fatality
Posted
A crash that occurred in the northern stretches of Maricopa County May 12 ended in a fatality.
Peoria Police and Peoria Fire-Medical responded to an injury collision on Castle Hot Springs Road, just north of State Route 74, about 1:15 a.m.
This incident was a single vehicle collision, which involved a 2013 white Chevrolet Silverado, police said.
When officers arrived on scene, the driver of the white Silverado was already deceased from the injuries sustained from the collision.
The driver has been identified as 24-year-old Benjamin Musser, of Phoenix. There were no other occupants inside the white Silverado.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the white Silverado was driving southbound on Castle Hot Springs Road and veered off the side of the road into the desert. Police said speed is considered to be a factor in this investigation and it is unknown if impairment is involved.
Castle Hot Springs Road was closed in both directions for several hours during this investigation and was reopened for normal traffic at about 8:30 a.m.
