State Reps. Alexander Kolodin, Joseph Chaplik, and Gail Griffin, chair of the House Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Water, and State Sen. John Kavanagh are hosting a community town hall Sunday, Jan. 29, to discuss and seek solutions to the Rio Verde Foothills.
Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega, Scottsdale council members, and Maricopa County District 2 Supervisor Thomas Galvin have all been invited to participate in the town hall, according to a press release. The public is encouraged to attend.
The town hall begins at 3 p.m. at the Reigning Grace Ranch, at 28614 N. 172nd St. in Rio Verde.
The discussion will revolve around the community's 500 area homes not having a reliable point of access to clean water since December after the city of Scottsdale decided to end deliveries to the community, citing its drought preparedness plans.
The state of Arizona has been mired in a two-decade drought that in the past two years has seen cities reevaluating conservation methods across the Valley. It comes in the wake of federal authorities announcing cutbacks on deliveries of Colorado River water throught Central Arizona Project as water levels in reservoirs along the river continue to fall.
