From drive-in watch parties to scavenger hunts and Battle of the Badge, Founders’ Day will be celebrated with fun activities throughout the month of September.
Providing an opportunity for the community to honor the Town of Queen Creek’s heritage, tune into the town’s social media for Tidbit Tuesday, Throwback Thursdays, Founding Father Fridays and an agricultural video series, according to a release.
The town’s documentary, "From Rittenhouse to the QC," will be presented at a drive-in watch party Sept. 26 at Central Christian Church, with a new special introduction from the town’s Founding Fathers.
The signature event, Battle of the Badge – MCSO vs QCFMD, will take place virtually with one battle featured each day beginning Sept. 19.
While the battles are happening virtually, the community is invited to participate from the comfort of their home.
The family can support team Queen Creek Fire & Medical and team Maricopa County Sheriff's Office by playing the minute-to-win-it-style challenges. Don’t have the supplies? Queen Creek’s recreation team has you covered with Minute to Win it Kits available for sale at the Recreation Annex, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. The kits include the supplies for all seven games team MCSO and team Fire & Medical will be playing and cost $25. Upload videos of your family playing the games to be eligible for raffles and the grand prize of an emergency services drive through your neighborhood, the release states.
“During these unique times, it is important to have opportunities to celebrate our community,” Mayor Gail Barney said in the release. “This new format extends our one-day event to a month full of festivities that can be enjoyed while practicing physical distancing. I encourage our residents to participate in our founders’ month of fun.”
