TSMC Arizona manufactures first wafer

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. announced it has begun the manufacturing process of making microchips in Arizona, according to a TSMC spokesperson.

TSMC officials completed engineering its first wafer — an initial step to ensure new equipment and systems are working correctly, the TSMC spokesperson said.

The official production start date is scheduled for the first half of 2025.
