Carlos Mancilla’s memories rush back. He remembers the lacrosse goals outside the high school across from his home in upstate New York, where the sport was immensely popular.
Growing up, he would grab his stick, walk across the street, and spend time shooting and playing wall ball against the large brick wall at the school.
He said the sport gave him a productive place to focus his energy, and the physical environment made it very easy for lacrosse to become a way for him to exercise, relax, and continually work toward improving a skill.
