Sun City reader cites congressman’s votes on sustainable energy, Inflation Reduction Act, consumer taxes

OPINION — As a Sun City resident, I am always happy to walk and drive through my neighborhood and see lots of solar panels and a growing number of hybrid cars and electric cars.
This is definitely the right direction for society. This is Arizona. We should all want more solar initiatives. Recently, I saw a house with solar panels and two electric cars with Andy Biggs signs in the yard. I was astonished.
Andy Biggs has fought this forward movement in sustainable energy. He voted to remove any tax credits which encourage people to move to sustainable sources.

This is definitely the right direction for society. This is Arizona. We should all want more solar initiatives. Recently, I saw a house with solar panels and two electric cars with Andy Biggs signs in the yard. I was astonished.
Andy Biggs has fought this forward movement in sustainable energy. He voted to remove any tax credits which encourage people to move to sustainable sources.
Andy Biggs has consistently voted against clean energy investments and initiatives, including a significant vote against the Inflation Reduction Act, which aimed to expand solar and wind development. He has also supported measures that would repeal clean energy tax credits and limit environmental protections related to energy production.
He says he likes consumer taxes but does he realize how punitive this is to regular working people? “The haves” will have no problem with consumer taxes; they can afford it. “The have nots” (me) will struggle even more than we are now.
I will not vote for a candidate I think is backward-thinking and kowtows to Trump in every way.
In my opinion, Andy Biggs has never truly put Arizona first. I urge people not to vote for him.
