Prostate On-Site Project “POP” will offer free prostate cancer screenings at a running event from 6-9 a.m., Saturday, March 18 at Westgate Entertainment District, 6751 N. Sunset Blvd.
“POP”, Prostate On-Site Project, is Arizona’s only medical mobile unit which provides comprehensive prostate cancer screenings to men 40 years and older (younger if a history of prostate cancer runs in the family). (Submitted)
A board-certified urologist will conduct the screenings; PSA (prostate specific antigen) a non-fasting blood test, DRE (digital rectal exam) and testicular exam.
The screenings is for men 40 and older or younger if there is a family history of prostate cancer.
Space is limited and appointments are required by calling 480-964-3013 or 1-800-828-6139.
Men who want the screening do not have to register for the racing event, Kiss Me I’m Irish Run/Walk.
Prostate Cancer frequently presents itself without any signs or symptoms.
One in six men will develop the disease in their lifetime; if detected early, the course of treatment is less evasive and survival is nearly 100 percent possible.
All men 40 years of age or older should have an annual screening. Men with a family history of prostate cancer and African- American men should have a DRE and PSA test annually starting at age 35.
Prostate On-Site Project is a medical mobile service.
