Perry High School’s boys basketball team was recognized at a recent Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meeting, weeks after winning its third consecutive state title.

The Pumas went 24-6, edged Millennium of Goodyear, 71-67, in an exciting Open Division final, and garnered many individual honors for standout Koa Peat, other players and coach Sam Duane.

Nine student-athletes were also recently named an all-academic team.

Peat, a 6-foot, 8-inch junior who’s being heavily recruited, was named Arizona’s player of the year by both MaxPreps and Gatorade.
Duane, who has led Arizona high school teams to a total of six state titles, was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2023-24 Arizona Coach of the Year.
