Learn more about the new interim Peoria council member

Shafer takes over for Binsbacher in north Peoria

Former Peoria City Council member Bridget Binsbacher recently stepped down from her council seat to run for mayor, as current Mayor Cathy Carlat will term out at the end of the year.

Binsbacher represented the Mesquite District in northern Peoria, which has received a lot of attention due to its explosive growth in the last decade.

Former Planning & Zoning Commissioner Brad Shafer, who also lives in the Mesquite District, stepped down from his post, April 7, to apply for Bisnbacher’s vacant seat. He was the only candidate who applied for the interim position, which council approved April 28.
