Explore the techniques used in flintknapping - that's making arrowheads - and more Saturday during the Pueblo Grande Museum's Annual Ancient Technology Day.
It will take place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the museum, 4619 E. Washington St., Phoenix.
Demonstrators will be showing technologies used by the first people to thrive in a desert environment, according to a release.
Skills such as flintknapping, constructing pottery, shell jewelry production and fire making will be among those demonstrated.
Experts in historic technologies also will demonstrate skills from the early European settlers such as lace making and adobe brick production.
“Learn fun facts about the desert environment and try your hand at throwing a spear with an atlatl or using a replica archery bow to shoot an arrow,” event organizers said in the release.
Ancient Technology Day: Prehistoric & Historic is an Arizona SciTech Festival event. All Ancient Technology Day activities and museum admission are free for the day.
