With 11 days until the deadline to file, four potential candidates have shown interest in running for two seats on the Deer Valley Unified School District governing board.
The two seats will open at the end of the year when the four-year terms of current board members — board president Paul Carver and Stepanie Simacek — expire at the end of 2026.
According to the Maricopa County School Superintendent’s elections and districts data dashboard, four residents have filed Statements of Interest so far to potentially run for the openings: David Alvarado, Carver, Kristi Cooper, and Julie Stockwell.
