Glendale utility rate hike open houses start tonight

Glendale is hosting a series of four public open house meetings to gather community feedback about utility services and proposed utility service rate adjustments.
Although residential solid waste service rates have not been increased since 2008 and city water and sewer utility rates have held steady since 2010, a city utility rate study has shown that an increase in current utility rates is now necessary to fund on-going and needed operating and maintenance costs such as fuel, electricity and chemicals, as well as future capital improvement projects, including solid waste trucks and equipment, water/sewer line replacements, water/sewer plant improvements and upgrades, and to maintain the city’s Enterprise Funds balance requirements.
Open House Public Input Meetings
• Wednesday, July 26 – 6-8 p.m., Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center, 11550 W. Glendale Ave.
• Thursday, Aug. 3 – 6-8 p.m., Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Drive
• Saturday, Aug. 12 – 10 a.m.-noon, Glendale City Hall – Basement Level, 5850 W. Glendale Ave.
• Tuesday, Aug. 15 – 6-8 p.m., Glendale Adult Center, 5970 W. Brown St.
