Glendale opens new Heroes Park Library May 18

At long last, Glendale's fourth library is opening.
The Heroes Park Branch Library, at 83rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road, will open Saturday, May 10. The public ceremony will start at 10 a.m.
The library had been in the cities plans since 1999 but constantly postponed until the city broke ground on the library last summer. Vice Mayor Joyce Clark, who represents the Yucca District which includes the library, announced the opening date in her email newsletter.
The 7,500 square-foot library will serve an estimated 80,000 visitors annually and bring an array of library programs, services and the latest innovations in library technologies to Glendale’s west side. It will eventually have a collection of about 25,000 books. Facility amenities will include dedicated children’s and “teen’s only” patio areas. A large glass window will bring the park inside.

Mayor Jerry Weiers had announced the library would open in June during his State of the City address in March.
