Thomas G. Campbell has been recognized by Mayor Jerry Bien-Willner of the Town of Paradise Valley for his 23 years of dedication and commitment as a member of the Paradise Valley Planning Commission, including multiple terms as chair.
The mayor’s proclamation for Campbell states that he has generously volunteered countless hours attending meetings, reviewing applications, conducting site visits, and providing invaluable insights and expertise. He has shown unwavering passion in his role and worked collaboratively with fellow commissioners, staff and residents to ensure that the town’s land use and development decisions are made carefully and in the best interests of the town.
During his tenure, Campbell helped shape positive and lasting physical characteristics of the town — from lot splits and plats, special use permit amendments at resorts, private schools, medical plazas, and conditional use permits for private roads and personal wireless service facilities.
Campbell was often heard telling applicants “I’m from Missouri, so show me” when applicants gave answers not outlined in their plans, using humor and civility to get to the bottom of things and achieve great results, the proclamation stated.
In addition, his guidance and input as a rotating member on the Hillside Building Committee helped to ensure that new homes built on the hillside areas of town were consistent with code and with an eye toward preserving the town’s scenic panorama and distinctive natural beauty.
Paradise Valley relies on the volunteer service of its residents to help preserve the unique character of the town.
"It's been a highlight of my professional life," Campbell said.
