Final counts point to Shafer as new Peoria council member in Mesquite District

It appears Interim Councilmember Brad Shafer has secured the Peoria City Council seat representing the Mesquite District.

The race pitted Shafer against former state schools superintendent Diane Douglas in a special election to fill former councilmember Bridget Binsbacher’s seat, who stepped down to run for mayor.

Shafer said he is honored to have been elected as Mesquite District’s councilmember for the city of Peoria.
