Final counts point to Rooks, Ewing as new Peoria Unified board members

With one of the most heated races for the Peoria Unified governing board in recent memory nearly complete, it appears Heather Rooks and Melissa Ewing will be elected, according to unofficial results.

The race for school board pitted three candidates competing for two seats.

In a statement sent to the Peoria Independent, Rooks thanked all the volunteers who supported her and Devon Updegraff-Day, as well as all the dads, moms and grandparents who took a stand over the past two years to help children’s education.
