The city of Mesa’s new all-electric fire truck will be unveiled and officially put into service during a brief program in January at Fire Station 221, 9320 E. Point Twenty-Two Blvd. in Eastmark.

Mesa Mayor John Giles, Councilmember and firefighter Scott Somers, Councilmember and retired firefighter Mark Freeman, Mesa City Manager Chris Brady and Mesa Fire and Medical Chief Mary Cameli will speak at the unveiling 11 a.m.-noon Jan. 4.

The new fire truck will officially be called into service by a radio dispatcher.

The $1,428,929.35 truck was purchased in 2021 from H&E Equipment Services LLC/E-One. It was funded by the 2018 public safety bonds and capital general fund.

The truck is manufactured by E-One, which is a fire apparatus manufacturer — making emergency vehicles, rescue trucks, aerial fire trucks, rescue pumpers and custom fire apparatus — and has produced more than 28,000 vehicles delivered around the world. The business is headquartered in Ocala, Florida, according to e-one.com.
