DVUSD official named Sacaton superintendent

Cherryl Paul, director of Organizational Improvement & Professional Learning in the Deer Valley Unified School District, has been named the new 2017-18 superintendent for the Sacaton Elementary School District located in the Gila River Indian Community.


“I am truly privileged to be selected as the new superintendent for the Sacaton Elementary School District,” Ms. Paul said in a news release. “It will be an honor to serve the children, guardians and community members in the Gila River Indian Community. Together, we will work to move our students forward and support them in our schools, homes and within the community.”

Ms. Paul has 22 years of experience in public education, and has been with the Deer Valley Unified School District since 2000, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and most recently as the director of Organizational Improvement & Professional Learning. She is a collaborative problem-solver who fosters lasting relationships to improve sustainable results.


Ms. Paul’s responsibilities included overseeing the advancement of the Strategic Plan, monitoring and reporting of the Campus and Department Improvement process (38 schools and 22 departments), Mentor Induction Program, My Learning Plan, McREL, Facilitative Leadership Training, National Board Certification, Administrative Mentors, Assistant Principal Training, Aspiring Administrators, Instructional Coaches and Academic Facilitators.







She is also an associate instructor with the Arizona State University Mary Lou Fulton Teacher College, a National Baldrige Examiner, AdvancED Examiner and a recent award recipient of the Southwest Alliance for Excellence for organizational commitment.


Ms. Paul is known across the state as a strong presenter with organizations including the Arizona School Boards Association, Arizona Education Foundation and Az Professors of Educational Administration.
