AAUW to host talk with director of Lowell Observatory

Join the American Association of University Women — Northwest Valley for a Zoom conversation with Dr. Jeff Hall, director of the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.
Dr. Hall joined the staff at Lowell in 1992 as a postdoctoral research fellow. He received a B. A. in physics in 1986 from Johns Hopkins and a Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics in 1991 from Penn State.
His research at Lowell has focused on solar and stellar activity cycles, with the goal of lending an astronomical perspective to solar influences on terrestrial climate. He has been the director since 2010.
The AAUW is the nation's leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls. Since its founding in 1881, AAUW members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day-education, social, economic and political.
AAUW advances gender equity for women and girls through research, education and advocacy and provides the opportunity to join a circle of women intent upon breaking through educationala nd economic barriers to enable women and girls to enjoy success in their community and personal lives.
