Scottsdale Gallery Association presents Earth + Arbor Day ArtWalk April 27

Posted

Spring has sprung and it’s time to celebrate Mother Nature! With that in mind, the Scottsdale Gallery Association, along with its member galleries, has announced the Earth + Arbor Day ArtWalk on Thursday, April 27.

From 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. guests can enjoy a beautiful evening perusing the Scottsdale Arts District, residing along Main St. from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School Road on Marshall Way to 5th Ave.nue listening to live music, sampling refreshments and more. Participating Scottsdale Gallery Association member galleries will be showcasing sustainable art practices and works.

“Art and nature go hand in hand,” Scottsdale Gallery Association President French Thompson said in a press release. “Many artists are inspired by the stunning world around us and it’s important that we pay homage to it. Our Earth + Arbor Day ArtWalk is our way of celebrating Mother Earth and emphasizing the need to protect it. We are proud present this ArtWalk in partnership with the city of Scottsdale’s Earth Week.”

In addition to entertainment within the Scottsdale Arts District during the Earth + Arbor Day ArtWalk, participating galleries will be hosting events of their own including:

French Designer Jeweler
7148 E. Main St.
French Designer Jeweler will be highlighting the handmade fine jewelry of Alex Sepkus, Barbara Heinrich and local designer Julie Romanenko of Just Jewels.

All three are studio jewelers who design and create their own original fine jewelry specializing in colored gemstones. During the event, the gallery is also celebrating the several U.S. refineries that sell recycled gold to the designers the gallery represents. Gold, being the “original recycled material” in human history, is seen as much more ethical and sustainable than regular gold and can recycle without losing its quality and reused multiple times, which is a more sustainable solution than mining for new alloys.

Legacy Gallery
7178 E. Main St.
As a reminder to respect and preserve Mother Nature’s bounty and most sacred spaces, The Legacy Gallery features landscapes of Arizona and the West during the ArtWalk by notable artists such as Matt Smith, Arturo Chavez, Robert Peters and Kenny McKenna.

On the Edge Gallery

7045 E. Main St.
In honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day observances, On the Edge Gallery spotlights talented nature-focused artists who will be onsite during the event. Vicki McKenna, Allison Shock and father-daughter duo Todd Spoor and Shay Spoor are all skilled at weaving objects recycled, found, biodegradable or otherwise sustainable with natural beauty, joy and celebration of all things art.

Quan’tum Art Inc.
7077 E. Main St., suite 16
Guests can enjoy the works of gallery co-owner John Gleason who creates many of his original sculptures with recycled and repurposed metal and wood along with a lifetime of collected and found objects. He features these unique components in sculptures, collages, mobiles and collaborations with artists Jacque L. Keller and Suzanne Larson.

Wilde Meyer Gallery
4142 N. Marshall Way
Wilde Meyer Gallery hosts its Honoring Nature event during the ArtWalk featuring a show of artists that honor nature by expressing its beauty through realistic and stylized expression in their art.

The Gold Palette ArtWalk highlights the finest art in Scottsdale featured throughout 28 galleries and two museums — Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.

The Scottsdale Gallery Association hosts its weekly ArtWalk most every Thursday evening 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In partnership with the city of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Gallery Association also presents eight Gold Palette ArtWalk events per year that feature a dedicated theme and activities specific to the theme including demonstrations and more.
