The Scottsdale City Council needs to get back to fighting about everything but water, City Councilwoman Solange Whitehead said during a discussion on updating the city’s large water user ordinance at the council’s Sept. 22 meeting.
She meant there needs to be consensus on the dais about how to secure Scottsdale’s water future, but Councilman Adam Kwasman’s follow up statements suggest that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.
“Let me be the one to always remember that any type of large scale plan like this is going to put individual residents and homeowners squarely in the cross hairs even if they claim they are not going to do it,” Kwasman said. “We’ve heard members on this dais say that homeowners are the No. 1 users of water. Well, guess who is going to be regulated if they think you are the target? It’s going to be moms and dads. It’s going to be. It’s going to be small business owners. It’s going to be grampas and grammas.”
