U.S. inflation, Iran war boosting Scottsdale’s revenue, budget director says

The city of Scottsdale’s coffers are overflowing due, at least in part, to inflation created by the Iran war, according to the city’s Budget Department Director Scott Sellin.

A preliminary report shows total revenue for the 2025-26 fiscal year are up 3.6% from the prior fiscal year, which was 4.7% more than what city officials predicted.

The reason: sales tax revenue was higher than expected during the last quarter of the year, Sellin told the city council during its Sept. 22 meeting.
