A new school year brings opportunity to engage in Scottsdale Unified School District

As students and staff return to campuses across the Scottsdale Unified School District, I want to extend an invitation to everyone in our community — whether you have children in our schools or not — to get involved this upcoming school year.
Children are our future. How we choose to educate them matters — not only to their personal success but to the strength, safety and vibrancy of our cities. Quality public schools are the foundation of a thriving community. Strong schools mean stronger neighborhoods, higher property values, a prepared workforce and a more connected community for us all.
If you are a parent or guardian of a student in SUSD, this is a great time to prioritize building relationships with your child’s teachers and school staff. Join your school’s PTO or Site Council. Volunteer, ask questions and stay curious about your child’s academic life — from what they’re learning in class to what they’re accessing on their school-issued devices.

If you don’t currently have children in our schools, you still play a vital role. Public schools are a shared investment, and I encourage you to stay informed, ask questions and participate in the conversation. Attend or watch our board meetings and help shape the direction of public education in our district. The full schedule for the 2025–26 school year is available at susd.org/our-district/governing-board.
As one of five elected governing board members, I remain committed to transparency, accountability and putting students first. I’m grateful for the many parents, educators and community members who continue to partner with us to strengthen SUSD. Let’s work together to ensure that our public schools are a top choice and a source of pride for everyone in our district who calls Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Phoenix home.
