A suspect has been arrested in connection with the July 24 burglary at San Tan Heights Elementary School, Pinal County Sheriff's Office said.
"In this burglary there were several computers and miscellaneous items taken, as well as a school van. The van and some of the items were located the next day in the Phoenix area. The van was returned to the school, but was stolen again the following night and recovered at a later date," according to a release.
PCSO detectives investigating the case were able to identify one of the three subjects involved in the incidents, the release states.
On Oct. 30, detectives interviewed Nathan Ortiz, 18, PCSO said.
"Mr. Ortiz admitted his involvement in the incidents and admitted to taking the vehicle both times. He was arrested and booked on two counts of vehicle theft, two counts of burglary and one count of theft above $4,000. Ortiz had been visiting relatives in the area when he committed the crimes," MCSO said.
Mr. Ortiz was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Facility in Florence. The investigation is continuing into the other two subjects involved, PCSO said.
