Queen Creek police to hold community academy

Posted

The Queen Creek Police Department will be hosting another Partners in Policing session.

The three-day program is designed to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at the department’s daily operations, challenges and specialized units.

“We’ve seen the conversations in our community around traffic, public safety and quality of life. These concerns are real, but lasting solutions take a shared effort,” according to a QCPD Facebook post. “Go beyond the conversation and get a firsthand look at how QCPD responds to these issues every day, and the role community members (like you) play in preventing and addressing them.”

This interactive program invites residents to “walk in the shoes of an officer” by offering hands-on experiences and allowing participants to engage directly with officers from specialized units, including traffic, crime scene investigation, real-time crime center, unmanned aerial vehicles, SWAT, K9s and other units within the department.

The academy will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., April 16-17, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., April 18 at the Gail A. Barney Public Safety Support Facility, 22050 E. Queen Creek Road

To attend, you must be a Queen Creek resident, be 18 years of age or older and pass a background check

Space is limited to 25 participants. Click here to apply.
