Queen Creek police receive safety state grant

Posted

The Queen Creek Police Department has received a $40,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety that will enable it to continue initiatives focused on reducing traffic violations and enhancing roadway safety.

“We know traffic-related incidents continue to be a concern for our community," stated Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice in a press release. "Traffic enforcement remains a top priority, and grants like this are extremely beneficial. Queen Creek experiences high traffic volumes with our residents and commuters — we want everyone who travels on our roadways to make it to their destination safely."

Between 2023 and 2024, traffic stops increased by 56% and citations were up by 67%, according to the release.

“These numbers reflect the department's ongoing dedication to enhancing public safety, especially traffic enforcement,” the release continued.

The grant is for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, which aims to reduce traffic-related incidents through targeted enforcement and community outreach efforts.

Another $40,000 grant was also awarded to QCPD for DUI and impaired driving enforcement. Both grants include funding for personnel overtime expenses.
