Queen Creek police plan ‘academy’ for residents

Posted

The Queen Creek Police Department will be holding another three-day Partners in Policing Academy this month.

The academy is a community-awareness program designed to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at the department’s daily operations, challenges and specialized units.

The academy will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 23-24, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 25 at the Community Chambers/Law Enforcement Building, 20727 E. Civic Parkway.

This interactive program offers hands-on experiences and allows participants to engage directly with officers from specialized units, including traffic, crime scene investigation, real-time crime center, unmanned aerial vehicles, SWAT, K9s and other units within the department, according to the town’s website.

Qualifications for attending the academy are:

  • Queen Creek resident
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Commit to participating in all three days of the academy
  • No prior felony arrests
  • No misdemeanor arrests within one year of application
  • Must pass a background check

Space is limited to 25 participants. To apply, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/PiP.

QCPD’s first Partners in Policing Academy took place in May, with Chief Randy Brice stating in a press release that the event “directly aligns with the department’s vision, mission and values. The program promotes transparency and strengthens trust between the department and the community.”
