The Queen Creek Police Department has issued a warning about a water-gun game some students are currently playing or will soon participate in.
The game, commonly referred to as “Senior Assassins,” is a student-organized activity not sponsored by the schools.
The game involves students — mostly seniors and/or juniors — from different schools using water guns to “tag” their targets.
QCPD stateed that the game can involve large groups of teens playing in public places such as parks, restaurants, shopping centers and neighborhoods.
“QCPD does not endorse or encourage participation in this activity; our priority is the safety of our youth and the prevention of any criminal or dangerous behavior,” according to the QCPD statement. “We urge parents and guardians to speak with their teens about the risks involved and to ensure their participation does not lead to unsafe situations, cause public alarm, or result in legal consequences.”
Police are offering these safety reminders to students playing the game:
Use only brightly colored water guns that cannot be mistaken for real firearms
Do not trespass on private property
Stay out of business areas, especially parking lots
Be aware of your surroundings — do not run into streets or traffic areas
Never aim or shoot at people that you know are not involved in the game
Do not display water guns in a threatening or disorderly manner
Never drive recklessly or play around moving vehicles
Members of the public concerned about the game or who have an incident to report, are asked to call the QCPD’s non-emergency number at 480-358-3500.
