The Queen Creek Town Council has forwarded recommendations of approval to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control for two businesses seeking liquor licenses.
The council approved forwarding the recommendations at its Aug. 7 meeting.
First, on the consent agenda, the council approved a permanent extension of premises/patio permit liquor application submitted by Teresa Horn on behalf of Pecan Lake Entertainment Center, 25004 S. 206th St.
All items on the consent agenda are decided with one vote unless a member of the council or town staff calls for it to be removed for a separate discussion or vote.
The permit for Pecan Lake Entertainment Center's will allow for the sale and serving of alcohol in an additional area outside the restaurant. The location is currently licensed to serve alcohol on the premises.
The application was reviewed by the Queen Creek Planning & Zoning Division, as well as the Queen Creek Police Department, and there were no objections or concerns, according to a council report.
"The establishment has various restaurant options, karaoke, virtual reality, ax throwing, escape rooms, a three-story 80-element ropes course, mini-golf, an electric go-cart track, and a surf simulator," a QCPD report stated. "This permanent extension is for areas of the property that are near completion."
On its public hearing consent agenda, the council unanimously approved a recommendation for a Series 12 Restaurant Liquor License that was submitted by Wade Alan Stooks on behalf of Slick City Action Park, 7225 S. Power Road, Unit A.
Matters listed under the public hearing consent agenda are considered to be routine and are enacted by one motion and one vote. Members of the public can comment on an item prior to the vote.
A Series 12 is a non-transferable, on-sale retail privileges liquor license that allows the holder of a restaurant license to sell and serve all types of liquor for consumption at an establishment that generates at least 40% of its gross revenue from the sale of food, a council staff report stated.
The Queen Creek Police Department found no issues with the application.
