Queen Creek broke ground Wednesday on a new facility for the town’s fleet services division.
The new structure is being built at the town’s field operations facility, 19715 S. 220th St.
“This modern municipal fleet facility is designed to serve our community for decades to come,” Mayor Julia Wheatley stated in a town press release. “It not only makes work easier and safer for our staff, but it will provide long-term cost savings by lowering preventative maintenance costs and reducing the need for expensive, outsourced repairs.”
The new fleet facility will allow technicians to service vehicles faster with fewer logistical issues, minimizing the downtime for vehicles.
“This will keep public safety, utilities, transportation and public works vehicles on the road instead of waiting for extended repairs, ultimately improving vehicle turnaround times and keeping response times low for emergency service vehicles,” the release continued.
The facility will also have enhanced safety measures for fleet staff, including advanced ventilation systems, specialized racks to eliminate heavy-lifting hazards and modern safety equipment to reduce workplace injuries.
The new facility was designed by Arrington Watkins and is being constructed by CHASSE Building Team. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.
The Queen Creek’s fleet services division manages and maintains a mixed fleet of more than 740 fleet vehicles including police and fire emergency vehicles, duty trucks, tractors, trailers, ATVs, street sweepers, water trucks and more.
