Queen Creek conducts pavement assessment

Posted

A special van will be driving through the town over the next few weeks to assess Queen Creek’s pavements.

The Town’s Pavement Preservation Division has partnered with Roadway Asset Services to conduct a full pavement condition assessment and asset inventory of all town-owned and maintained roadways, according to a press release.

Throughout the rest of the month and May, residents may see a specialized Roadway Asset Services vehicle collecting pavement data and roadway features including signs, supports, lighting, stormwater inlets, ADA ramps, sidewalks and pavement markings.

The Roadway Asset Services vehicle is equipped with sensors, laser technology and cameras.

Once the data collection phase is complete, Roadway Asset Services will integrate the information into the town’s asset management system and will then develop a pavement-management plan and a multi-year tool to optimize the maintenance of the town’s roadways.

“Over the last decade, the Queen Creek Town Council has invested more than $200 million in improving the town’s roadways and transportation, with 86% of major projects outlined in the Town's 2016 Transportation Master Plan complete or in progress,” the press release stated. “The roadway asset inventory will help ensure proper maintenance of the investment.”
