QCPD has back-to-school drop-off, pick-up tips

Posted

Classes are back in session today for schools in the Queen Creek Unified School District.

That means more cars and kids on the road, so the Queen Creek Police Department is asking drivers to stay alert.

“QCPD reminds you that everyone plays a part in starting the school year safely by following your school's policies and doing your part during drop-off and pick-up,” according to a QCPD statement.

Some QCPD tips to keep students safe:

  • Follow all posted parking rules and never stop in red zones; they’re reserved for emergency access and visibility.
  • Use designated drop-off and pick-up zones. Stay in your car, pull forward and keep the line moving.
  • Don’t block sidewalks or driveways. Keep paths clear for students, pedestrians and residents.
  • Avoid distractions behind the wheel by putting phones away and staying alert, especially near crosswalks and corners.

QCPD is also advising drivers to be patient and expect traffic delays during the first few weeks of school.
