With warmer temperatures expected this weekend, according to a news release, the Chandler Chamber Ostrich Festival, is taking extra steps to keep attendees cool and comfortable during the second and final weekend of the 36th annual festival.
Festival organizers are implementing a variety of cooling measures throughout the grounds for the unseasonably warm March weather at the Rawhide Event Center.
Here are some of the adjustments:
-Guests may bring two sealed water bottles per person
-Shaded canopies on the main stage lawn for added sun protection
-A misting truck on the festival grounds to provide quick relief
-Complimentary water distribution (quantities are limited) during peak heat hours
-Ten cool zones throughout the festival, including five indoor, air-conditioned locations
-The indoor Big Barn and Steakhouse will be open for guests looking to cool off
-An “Ostrich Madness” viewing area, featuring a large LED screen with college basketball games playing throughout the weekend, enhanced with a misting system.
Friday, March 20, Rawhide is open from 2 p.m. to midnight. The main stage headliner will be Vanilla Ice.
Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, the grounds are open from 10 a.m. to midnight. Saturday’s headliner is The Commodores; Sunday, it’s Baby Bash.
The ostrich-viewing pen and an elevated viewing pavilion are located at the northeast end of the main Rawhide Western Town pedestrian street used by the festival. Grab a map and schedule of events on the way in.
The Rawhide Western Town and Event Center is located at 5700 W. North Loop Road, just south of Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, southwest of both I-10 and the Chandler city limits.
The festival also includes stage shows, carnival rides and games, classic festival food and interactive activities for all ages.
Tickets are on sale now at Ostrichfestival.com or at select Bashas’ and Food City locations.
