New camp lets Queen Creek teens develop events

Queen Creek next teen event could the brainchild of teens themselves.

The Teen Tank is a weeklong entrepreneurship camp where teens can build a team, brainstorm a creative concept and pitch their ideas for events to Parks & Recreation staff.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon, June 23–27 in the Teen Room at the Queen Creek Recreation and Aquatic Center, 22343 E. Ryan Road in Frontier Family Park.

Teen Tank is open to kids ages 13–18.

At the camp, teens will develop event ideas that they would like to see come to life in the teen room and pitch them in a “Shark Tank”-style finale.

“Throughout the week, participants will collaborate in teams to develop a full-scale event from concept to execution. They’ll dive into budgeting, marketing, logistics and leadership — then pitch and present their final event plan to Parks & Recreation staff during a live showcase at the end of the week,” according to the town’s website.

The event costs $50 per teen residents and $62.50 for non-resident teens.
