The Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation helps support education by working closely with local businesses and the community.
Focused on promoting academic excellence, the foundation provides financial assistance through grants and scholarships, creating opportunities for students and teachers. By encouraging leadership, growth and learning, the foundation helps to develop responsible residents and drive success throughout Queen Creek Unified School District, according to a district press release .
The foundation secures funding for its scholarships and grants through a combination of community fundraisers and business partnerships. Events such as the annual softball tournament enable the foundation to provide financial assistance to graduating seniors from all high schools in the district.
The scholarships cover expenses such as tuition and textbooks for students who might not otherwise afford them, the release continued.
The foundation also partners with local businesses to supplement its resources in an effort to create broader access to educational opportunities.
The foundation's secretary, Quincy Nelson, stated that she loves being a part of the foundation because “it is amazing to be a part of something that gives students opportunities to pursue their passions after graduation. When we can be a small part of their post-secondary education and success it is a great feeling.”
Matthew Boylan of the design firm Orcutt-Winslow, a foundation business partner, touted the district’s Career and Technical Education programs.
“Public schools offer so much to students.” Boylan stated in the release. “We're teaching a class at Crismon High School, and that's our company’s future. … helping these students out, raising money, making schools better is only going to help all of our futures.”
