Gilbert confirms new Fire and Rescue Department chief
Will take over duties on July 11

Gilbert Town Council confirmed Rob Duggan as the next Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department chief at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, June 28.
“After a competitive national recruitment and multifaceted interview process, I am pleased to share we have selected Rob Duggan as Gilbert’s next fire chief,” said Town Manager Patrick Banger said in a press release.
Duggan, who was previously assistant chief, has 23 years of experience with Gilbert Fire and Rescue and more than 30 years of public safety experience, according to the press release.
“Chief Duggan has dedicated his career to the Gilbert community, and we’re looking forward to having him continue to serve in this new leadership role,” Banger said.
Along with his role as assistant chief, Duggan worked as the fire department liaison for the 9/11 Memorial and the Gilbert Public Safety Memorial.
Current Gilbert Fire Chief Jim Jobusch will officially retire on July 7, and Duggan will take over his duties on July 11.
“My vision and goals for the department are to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization, create a culture of innovation and pathways to innovate and ensure we are the destination fire department by allowing our people to feel safe, valued and have opportunities to thrive,” Duggan said.
